Cancer Focus NI’s annual Pink Run!

On Sunday 13th October over 1000 runners worked up a thirst in the annual Cancer Focus NI Pink Run sponsored by our very own Sukie! In the iconic backdrop of the Titanic Slipways runners donned their pink tutu’s, feather boa’s, facepaint, wigs and more to pace their way around the 5k stretch for this very important cause. Even our Sukie mascot made their debut, narrowly avoiding becoming our Summer Fruits flavour in the pink-powder flurry!

For the last 9 years the fun run event has attracted hundreds of runners of all abilities and ages to turn out in their droves and raise funds for the amazing work that Cancer Focus NI does for breast cancer awareness. From counselling, support groups, and specialist bra and swimwear fitting, these in-demand services can make a real difference to local women that we were delighted to support and bring attention to.

Speaking at the event, Maeve Colgan, Director of Fundraising and Communications at Cancer Focus NI said, ‘I’d like to thank everyone who has taken part, especially our wonderful headline sponsors Dale Farm Sukie, and would encourage people and businesses across Northern Ireland to Go Pink throughout October and help us reach even more local women and families with our vital services. Just £58 will pay for a one-hour consultation with a Bra and Swimwear Fitting Specialist or Counsellor, helping give a woman back her confidence after treatment or surgery."

Our very own Sharon Campbell, Head of Marketing here at Dale Farm supported the sentiment, saying ‘At Dale Farm, it is our mission to share goodness in our local communities, we are proud to have been part of this amazing event and further our support for the amazing work Cancer Focus NI do in the local community. The money raised will help to make a real difference in the lives of local people facing breast cancer. Congratulations to everyone who took part and made the day such a memorable success’.

Our Sukie mascot had some competition for best outfit, as Cancer Focus NI’s Genevieve the Goat, Dolly Parton, some retro Barbies and a Pink Power Ranger gave us and participants a run for their money! Luckily there were some chilled Sukie’s on hand for all runners to enjoy and refuel after their pink-powdered dash for the finish line.
