Bank Holiday Fun in Northern Ireland with Dale Farm

1st May 2025

Two bank holidays in one month? Yes please! May is shaping up to be a month full of fresh air, family time, and fun across Northern Ireland and whether you're planning a packed day out or a slow Sunday picnic, there's no better time to make memories that stick (especially when there’s a Cool Crew in hand🍦).

From beach walks to forest adventures, we’ve rounded up some perfect ways to make the most of the May Bank Holidays (Monday 5th & Monday 26th), all made even sweeter with Dale Farm’s Cool Crew Ice Lollies and refreshing Sukie Summer Fruits. Trust us, your cooler box will thank you.

Beach Days Done Right

The Northern Ireland coast is calling! Head to Portstewart or Portrush for classic seaside fun - buckets, spades, and salty chips included. Or, if you fancy something a bit quieter, head to Tyrella Beach for stunning views and calmer vibes. Don’t forget to pack a few bottles of Sukie Summer Fruits to keep the family cool and hydrated - it’s fruity, sugar free, and a total beach-day win.

Picnics in the Park

Castlewellan Forest Park, Crawfords Burn, or the scenic Antrim Castle Gardens - May is prime time for a proper family picnic. Pack your favourite sandwiches, grab a big picnic blanket, and throw in a few Cool Crew Ice Lollies to keep in your cool bag. With our classic flavours and fun characters, they’re a guaranteed hit with the little ones (and let’s be honest, the big kids too!).

Family Day Out

Looking for a day full of adventure and fresh air? Start with a thrilling walk along the Gobbins cliff path - a route of bridges and tunnels carved into the Antrim coastline. Or head to the enchanting trails of Tollymore Forest Park, where winding paths and hidden bridges make the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable family hike.

Fancy a journey through time? Step into the past at the Ulster American Folk Park. Here, kids (and grown-ups) can meet costumed characters, explore traditional cottages, and even board a full-scale emigrant ship to experience the stories of those who set sail for America centuries ago.

For something more peaceful, pack a picnic and head to the beautiful Gortin Glen Forest Park in the heart of the Sperrins. With tranquil woodland trails, panoramic views, and plenty of space to relax, it’s the perfect spot to slow down and soak up the beauty of nature. And of course, no family day out is complete without a sweet treat. Swing by your local shop on the way home and pick up a Cool Crew Ice Lolly , the ultimate way to top off a day well spent.
