24th August 2023

This Summer, Dale Farm embarked on a cool adventure, with our iconic Cool Crew ice lollies at the heart of it! Our mission? To share goodness throughout Northern Ireland, bringing smiles to the faces of our hardworking communities… and what a journey it was!

The Iconic Cool Crew Range

But first, who are our Cool Crew? At Dale Farm, we have five distinctive ice lollies, each with their own unique, playful personas:

  • The Joker (the giggler) loves a good laugh, and can often be found cracking jokes left, right and centre!

  • Mr Frostie (the cool guy) is simply effortlessly cool inside and out.

  • Choc Pop (the nipper)might look like a grown-up, but they're a big kid at heart!

  • Pear Picking Porky (the greedy guts) is all about the food – a true gastro hero with a taste for life!

  • Polly Pineapple (the chatterbox)yep, you guessed it… loves a good natter!

Whether you're cheeky, chilled out, or just can't stop talking, there's a Cool Crew lolly that suits you! This Summer, we put the spotlight on these five iconic favourites, reminding everyone that there's a Dale Farm lolly for every mood and moment.

Day 1: Sharing the Dale Farm love

Our Summer Road Trip began with the most important people, our dedicated Dale Farm employees! We started off at Dale Farm House in Belfast, and then ventured across the country to visit many of our Dale Farm factories, to say a big thanks to all the dedicated individuals who work hard to make and distribute all of our fresh, locally made products. We had a great time meeting everyone, take a look at some of the sites we visited:

Pennybridge Industrial Estate, Ballymena (hey!) The team dived into the choice of ice lollies to cool down during their break! Did you know that Pennybridge packs over 100 million litres of milk per year?

Mullin’s, Kilrea: Next up on our road trip was to the home of our locally made, award-winning Mullin’s Ice Cream. They were overjoyed to receive some Cool Crew lollies and had the craic picking out which characters and personalities this close-knit working team are.

Dunman, Cookstown: Our final visit of the day was across to Cookstown, where we were greeted by the spirit of hard work and dedication that defines Dale Farm. The Dunman site is known for crafting our award-winning Dromona cheddar and the employees were ecstatic when greeted by our bright green ice cream truck (who wouldn’t, after a hard day's work?!)

We have a great team here at Dale Farm and are grateful for the commitment and passion that goes into making some of the best products in Northern Ireland (we can say that, trust us!)

Day 2: Spreading Joy Across NI!

Our second day brought a whirlwind of excitement as we engaged with our online community in an exciting competition. The promise of a visit from our delightful iconic Dale Farm ice cream van had hearts racing and fingers typing. We cheered as we selected the lucky winners and embarked on a mission to share goodness with these deserving individuals and organisations.

Fareshare, Antrim: Our first stop led us to the dedicated individuals at Fareshare, a UK-based charity organisation committed to tackling the dual challenges of food waste and food poverty. Their core objective is to redistribute surplus food from the food industry to charities and community groups that provide aid to vulnerable and disadvantaged individuals.

Laughlin & Harvey Mallusk, Mallusk: The laughter continued at Laughlin & Harvey in Mallusk. Amidst the bustling industrial landscape, we shared the craic with the team and enjoyed seeing some cheeky fun!

Colin Vale Nursing Home, Belfast: We then travelled to Colin Vale Nursing Home in Belfast, where we shared heartwarming interactions with the residents, swapping stories that bridge generations and brought smiles to many faces.

Young Farmers, Antrim: Their vibrant energy and commitment to their community added a spark of vitality to our Cool Crew adventure.

Connswater Housing, Belfast: Situated in the heart of Belfast, Connswater Housing welcomed us into their community with open arms. It was a privilege to connect with the people who make this place a warm and vibrant home.

Todd Architects, Belfast: We then visited the team at Todd Architects, a place where creativity and innovation thrive. Engaging with their team was a testament to the diverse talents that contribute to Belfast's business landscape.

Tourism NI, Belfast: While on our very own tour of NI, we even called in to see the guys at Tourism NI - an organisation that drives Northern Ireland's cultural and tourism endeavours.

Belfast City Hospital: Our journey finished at Belfast City Hospital. This stop reminded us of the importance of community support and the resilience of those who work to take care of others.

Every stop gave us memories to last the Summer! We indulged in laughter and stories, basking in the shared camaraderie that made this adventure truly special. Take a look at what we got up to on our Instagram!

The highlight of our trip?

Encouraging the staff at these organisations to pick a Cool Crew lolly which they felt best matched their own personality. The choices led to quite a few chuckles, debates, and lots of selfies! Are you a Joker, always up for a prank? Or the Cool Guy, who handles pressure with a calm demeanour? Perhaps you're a Chatterbox, the life of every gathering? In the end, whether they were Greedy Guts or Nippers, what shone through was the shared love for our iconic Cool Crew range and the spirit of the Northern Ireland community.
